This is my place to relate my experiences with cancer treatment, as well as share resources that may be helpful to fellow oral, head, and neck cancer survivors. I was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the left parotid on June 30, 2006. My goal is to continue enjoying the Nebraska Good Life. I call this blog the "Cheeky Librarian", since the cancer was discovered in my cheek, I am a librarian, and many that know me say I fit the slang use of the word 'cheeky'.

Celebrated my ten year anniversary at work
Yep, anniversaries of any sort are big with me these days, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (http://unmc.edu) went out of its way to mark the decade milestones for its faculty this past Tuesday. I noted a cool coincidence in the meeting program - 3 of my cancer-care-related doctors also celebrated their 10th year at UNMC. I want to thank them here, publicly, for their 10 years of service to the University, for their service got me to my own 10 year mark. Wonder what the next 10 years will bring??!
Funny, Teri, I was just about to write a post about anniversaries myself. I was reading another blog earlier today - and she talked about anniversaries. Having any kind of anniversary when you're talking cancer is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Here's to another 10 years of us being colleagues - and many many more than that of being friends :-)
ReplyDeleteHooah!!! Congrats on your 10 yr. mark ~ that is so awesome! I am nearing my 5 yr. mark (this fall)!! I had a very rare sub-glottal throat cancer - Yes, I was a "closet" smoker" - Docs don't really think that had anything to do with it, but they really don't know??!! I'm from NE too!! I grew up in Aurora, NE and went to UNL and Hubby and I are huge football fans! Not sure how I landed on your blog, but glad to have found you!! Have a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Teri. I celebrate you and send you a virtual hug today!!
