This is my place to relate my experiences with cancer treatment, as well as share resources that may be helpful to fellow oral, head, and neck cancer survivors. I was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the left parotid on June 30, 2006. My goal is to continue enjoying the Nebraska Good Life. I call this blog the "Cheeky Librarian", since the cancer was discovered in my cheek, I am a librarian, and many that know me say I fit the slang use of the word 'cheeky'.

7 year anniversary since original surgery and diagnosis
Yep, 7 whole years. And they have been pretty good ones, if I say so myself. There are some things I haven't been able to change (still the fattest person I know that has ACC-what's up with that?), some things I did (began side jewelry business, refocused on what is important to me), and some things aren't that different (still like taking photos and traveling for fun and library outreach). Just very glad I am still casting a shadow, and able to interact with all the great people I knew before and have gotten to know since. Here's to more miles of traveling the ACC road together.
Congratulations Teri. Thank you for your blog, and for sharing your experiences. You've been a wonderful source of information and inspiration. David Koch
ReplyDeleteCheers to many many more Anniversaries!
ReplyDeleteACC seems to have a way of helping people to stop & do what they love. For my mom it was quilting. Believe it or not the "fat" could be a major blessing. Enjoy every moment of it all. Glad you are still casting shadows & that you blog about it. Sincerely means a lot.
Congrats on the first 7 from your Atlanta buddy.
