Thanks to a great northern reader, I received the following news story in my email about a fundraiser for an ACC warrior:
Fundraiser set for woman with rare form of cancer

(another story with photo http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/article/20090923/WDH0101/909230632/1981/WDHopinion)
The fundraiser actually took place yesterday for Kimberly Kukinski, 25, in Weston (Wisconsin, I think - the bad thing about online newspapers is that they rarely say what state they originate from). Wishing you and your family the best, Ms. Kukinski. With the support you have experienced, you will go far, in this Cheeky Librarian's opinion.

Weston is a suburb of Wausau, in north central Wisconsin, about halfway between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Green Bay. 2 1/2 hours north of Madison. FYI, the Wausau paper only keeps articles online for a week.
The day I sent this to Teri, I read obituary of woman I met in Wausau breast cancer support group. Yes, newspaper still publishes full length, full size obituaries,, with family paying for information beyond the standard. First diagnosed in 1992, her cancer recurred in 2005. I'm nine years out from breast cancer, but very aware that cancer is a chronic disease. Kudos for Teri for keeping up this online support, especially when not enough of you for in person groups. Peg
