Folks have requested a recent photo, so I figured this one taken August 25 would fit the bill. This was taken on the occasion of Valda's prestigious award.
This is my place to relate my experiences with cancer treatment, as well as share resources that may be helpful to fellow oral, head, and neck cancer survivors. I was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma of the left parotid on June 30, 2006. My goal is to continue enjoying the Nebraska Good Life. I call this blog the "Cheeky Librarian", since the cancer was discovered in my cheek, I am a librarian, and many that know me say I fit the slang use of the word 'cheeky'.

Your friends in Atlanta do not know who Velda is. Please enlighten us.
Valda Boyd Ford is the director of UNMC's Community and Multicultural Affairs. She received a Nebraska Woman of Distinction award in Lincoln on August 25, and I managed to get there in time for the end of the reception that day. (Someone will let me know if I have the name of the award incorrect. I know it is a great honor that she received.)
